Wallpapers and Aspect Ratios
A short guide to making desktop and phone wallpapers with Raphael AI without awkward crops.
Pick the ratio first
| Device | Ratio | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| desktop monitor | 16:9 | keep the subject off-center, icons sit on the left |
| ultrawide | 21:9 | wide landscapes work best |
| phone | 9:16 | subject in the middle third, clock covers the top |
| tablet | 4:3 | balanced compositions |
Composition for wallpapers
Wallpapers sit behind icons and widgets, so calm areas matter. Ask for "large calm sky" or "soft empty foreground".
minimal landscape of rolling hills under a pale pink sky, small lone tree on the right,
large calm empty sky, soft gradients, 16:9
Color and eye strain
Dark, low-contrast wallpapers are easier on the eyes in the evening. Generate a "night" version with "dim, deep blue tones".
Resolution
Upscale the chosen image to your screen resolution before setting it, or it will look soft.
